Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, also the Chair of the 12th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), said global affairs and governance should not be the exclusive domain of superpowers, speaking on Friday (Nov. 22) during the opening ceremony of the 12th General Assembly of ICAPP at the CPP’s headquarters.
“We are currently living in a world of high uncertainty, with superpowers violating the international order based on law, as we witness in the headlines every day. However, world affairs and global governance should not be limited to superpowers. We must also recognise the importance of medium-sized and smaller powers, as they too have the independence and ambition to play meaningful roles in diplomacy, geopolitics, and economics to promote peace around the world,” the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei added that Cambodia seeks to contribute to building a global community characterised by peace, prosperity, and inclusive multilateralism.
On the occasion, Premier Hun Manet mentioned that the global community is at a critical turning point. The principles of peace, established under the UN Charter, are now being tested to unprecedented levels due to intense rivalries that have led to both cold and hot wars.
