Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed Cambodia's pivotal role in promoting global peace and demining efforts under the auspices of the United Nations (UN), reflecting the country's resilience in overcoming its difficult past and its emergence as a global model for preventing future atrocities and crimes against humanity.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Nov. 23) during the closing ceremony of the 12th General Assembly of ICAPP at the CPP’s headquarters.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, “Cambodia's contribution to global peacekeeping and demining under the UN framework demonstrates its transformation from a nation once scarred by conflict to a recognised peacekeeper and world-renowned leader in demining. This evolution reflects our resilience and commitment to setting a global standard against atrocities and crimes against humanity.”

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that Cambodia's experience illustrates how conflict can be resolved, justice achieved, and war-torn areas transformed into hubs of peace, development, and cooperation. This success, he noted, is the result of hard work, commitment, and a win-win approach to reconciliation, with both sides agreeing to settle disputes peacefully.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei added that Cambodia's history demonstrates that peace is not the sole responsibility of any one nation but a collective endeavor. He urged all nations, institutions, and individuals to collaborate in maintaining and striving for lasting peace.
