Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet credited Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s foundation of Dharma as a key element in the successful implementation of win-win policy, speaking on Saturday (Nov. 23) during the closing of the 32nd National Congress of Buddhist Monks at the National Institute of Education.
“Win-win policy is rooted in religious principles, highlighting its foundation in merit, understanding, forgiveness, and non-punishment. Enduring peace achieved through win-win politics stems from trust and the absence of retaliation,” the premier underlined.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet shared that political leaders from various countries have commended Cambodia’s successful end to war and its efforts in building lasting peace, often expressing interest in learning from its experience. He also highlighted that Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s honesty played a crucial role in gaining the trust of Khmer Rouge troops, leading them to integrate with the government.
On the occasion, Premier Hun Manet stressed the importance of state support for religion, noting its vital role in fostering social harmony and peace. He underscored that as a nation modernizes, religion becomes even more significant. He further affirmed that religious beliefs are not a barrier to a country's modernization.
The prime minister also highlighted the importance of religious education as a cornerstone of moral development. He added that promoting Buddhism plays a key role in strengthening human values and ethics.
