Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet shared three recommendations to the Ministry of Cults and Religion and Buddhist monks to ensure the continued promotion of Buddhism.
The premier spoke on Saturday (Nov. 23) during the closing of the 32nd National Congress of Buddhist Monks at the National Institute of Education.
With many achievements in the field of cults and religions, on behalf of the Royal Government and as a Buddhist, Samdech Thipadei shared three recommendations as follows:
First, widely dissemination and effectively implementation of the content of the proclamation of the National Congress by monitoring and evaluating the implementation of all activities to address challenges and ensure the promotion of the values of Buddhism as the state’s religion.
Second, the two types of monks must pay attention to the practice of discipline to strengthen the role of monks and pagodas in participating in the prevention and resolution of issues in Buddhism and contribute to the preservation of the heritage within the pagoda.
Third, the Ministry of Cults and Religion must cooperate with the board of directors of relevant ministries and institutions to focus on training monks and civil servants to develop information technology skills (digital skills) in response to Cambodia’s Digital Government Policy 2022–2035. There are still some key points to focus on, including (1) organising communication and interaction between the central administration, capital, and provincial departments, as well as relevant ministries and institutions; (2) compiling data through electronic and information technology systems; and (3) further improving public relations through the use of information technology. In this regard, the Ministry of Cults and Religion must cooperate with relevant ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
