Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 24 – In a vibrant celebration of the 66th anniversary of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia hosted an Open Day event, welcoming nearly 1,000 students from six universities.

The event, held on 23 November 2024, underscored the enduring friendship and partnership between the two nations.

Ambassador Wang Wenbin welcomed the students and academics. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Wang highlighted the historical significance of the bilateral ties, noting that the partnership has been built on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared prosperity.

“China is a nation that values peace,” stated Ambassador Wang, highlighting the deep-rooted friendship between China and Cambodia. He described this relationship as a treasured legacy left by the former leaders of both nations, built on mutual respect and cooperation. 

On this occasion, students also had the opportunity to share their impressions of China and the Cambodia-China relationship, highlighting the enduring, fruitful, and friendly ties between the two nations.

The Open Day featured a series of activities designed to showcase Chinese culture and promote understanding between the peoples of the two nations. Guests were treated to traditional Chinese calligraphy demonstrations. Interactive workshops on Chinese cuisine and language drew significant interest from the attendees.

Exhibits highlighting the achievements of Cambodia-China cooperation in areas such as infrastructure development, education, and cultural exchange were also on display. 

Many attendees expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage with Chinese culture and learn more about the collaborative projects that benefit Cambodia.

This year’s Open Day marks another chapter in the story of a partnership that continues to grow, celebrating not just diplomatic ties but the enduring friendship between two peoples.
