Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet urged those facing issues with Borey projects to remain patient and resolve conflicts peacefully, stressing that refusing to negotiate harms the interests of both parties.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Nov. 26) during the closing session of the 2024 annual meeting of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction.

Samdech Thipadei stated, “I urge everyone to seek a peaceful solution to issues with Borey projects. Those affected should continue to be patient and work towards resolving the problems together. This is not something that can be solved overnight, but through ongoing collaboration. Rather than avoiding discussions, we must engage in dialogue to find solutions. The government will not abandon the people.”

The premier explained that the issues in the Boreys stem from misconceptions about the economic crisis, with both builders and buyers being victims. He underlined the importance of continued collaboration to resolve these problems. To preserve the real estate sector, the government must support committed investors and Borey owners who genuinely seek solutions for troubled customers. Those who are negligent must be held accountable under the law.

According to the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, efforts have been made to address disputes involving 99 real estate projects nationwide. These include 27 Borey developments, equivalent to 77 projects, as well as four markets, condominiums, and 18 land plots. Of these, 53 projects have been resolved, while the remaining 46 are being addressed through cooperative efforts and mutual understanding during these challenging times. These efforts have led to gradual improvements in previously tense situations.
