Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that the Royal Government plans to allocate approximately USD100 million for land demarcation to resolve land disputes.

Samdech Thipadei added that if the work is completed as planned, the year 2029 would mark the 40th anniversary of the declaration of private property ownership for the people, a policy first introduced by Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Nov. 26) during the closing session of the 2024 annual meeting of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction.

"In this new mandate, we have prepared 5,000 officers to work (measure and demarcate the boundaries). I have approved an increase in the budget, and we plan to allocate USD100 million to complete this task,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei explained that resolving land disputes requires clear boundary measurements and demarcations for all land plots.

According to the premier, approximately 1 million land plots have already been surveyed and registered, while 1 million plots remain to be addressed.

Samdech Thipadei urged the completion of land registration by 2025, in line with the Ministry’s plan, and called for ongoing efforts to minimise land disputes and issues related to Boreys (residential projects). These measures aim to boost investor confidence, strengthen Cambodia’s economy, and enhance the country’s resilience.

Additionally, the premier emphasised the importance of expanding new industries, increasing value-added production, and improving Cambodia’s competitiveness while maintaining social harmony.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also called on capital and provincial governors to actively participate in and effectively manage the issuance of title deeds to citizens with a high sense of responsibility.
