Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 27 – Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany, presented the Pali Canon, Chuon Nath's Khmer Dictionary, and the Royal Academy Dictionary. They also contributed to the construction of a dragon boat at the request of a delegation of Khmer Krom monks.

Samdech Techo and spouse received a courtesy call by a delegation of Khmer Krom monks on Wednesday (Nov. 27) at their residence in Takhmao City, Kandal Province.

On this occasion, Venerable Thach Nhek informed Samdech Techo Hun Sen and his spouse that the purpose of their meeting was to personally thank them for initiating the Great Khmer Family Solidarity Kathina Procession to Wat Por Kiri Vongsaram, held from 3-5 November 2024. This historic event was highly significant for monks and Khmer Krom Buddhists in Tra Vinh province.

Venerable Thach Nhek also took the opportunity to express his deep gratitude to all monks, leaders at various levels, and devoted Buddhists who generously contributed their physical, mental, and material efforts to organise the Great Khmer Family Solidarity Kathina Procession. He underlined the invaluable leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Kittipritthbandit Bun Rany, whose initiative, along with the support of leaders across Cambodia, ensured the success of the procession. As part of the ceremony, sacred items were presented to 142 other pagodas to support religious activities and the construction of Buddhist structures, contributing to the steady growth of Buddhism.

The Kathina procession also received significant support from National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and his spouse Pich Chanmony, as well as leaders at all levels.

Thanks to the coordination between the state, party and the people of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and monks at all levels, the Kathina procession was a resounding success. It brought immense joy and pride to Cambodian leaders and Buddhists everywhere.

The delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Supreme Patriarchs of both Buddhist orders, to perform traditional pagoda worship in accordance with Buddhist customs and practices. They discussed matters related to the discipline and studies of Khmer Krom monks in Tra Vinh province.

Additionally, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the President of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland (SFDCM) Men Sam An, and Minister of Cult and Religion Chay Borin, to express their gratitude for the organisation of the Kathina procession ceremony. They also sought support for the study and accommodation of Khmer Krom monks at pagodas in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
