Siem Reap (FN), Dec. 1 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received Philip Witherington, President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Manulife Asia, on Sunday (Dec. 1) in Siem Reap.

During the meeting, Philip Witherington expressed gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for attending the 29th Angkor Wat International Half Marathon 2024, which Manulife co-sponsored to raise funds for the Angkor Hospital for Children.

The president briefed Samdech Thipadei on the global operations of Manulife, particularly in Asia, where it is headquartered, and its Canadian roots. He underlined that Manulife has been providing life insurance services in Cambodia since 2012, aiming to support Cambodian families and enhance their financial security. He further reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding its operations in Cambodia to contribute more significantly to the country’s socio-economic development and to ensuring long-term financial security for Cambodian families.

For his part, Prime Minister Hun Manet commended Manulife and other sponsors for supporting the marathon, which saw over 14,000 participants this year, surpassing last year’s numbers. He underscored that the event not only raised funds for humanitarian causes, including Angkor Hospital for Children and support for landmine victims, but also showcased Cambodia’s image as a nation of peace, stability, security, and prosperity.

Samdech Thipadei also underlined the Royal Government’s social protection policies, including health care insurance for poor and vulnerable civil servants and their families, and the introduction of a voluntary social security system for self-employed individuals and their dependents. He encouraged Manulife to continue strengthening and expanding its investments in Cambodia while developing innovative insurance products to better serve the needs of Cambodian citizens.
