Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 4 – The Cambodian scarf, known as krama, has been inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO during the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asunción, Paraguay.
Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, led a delegation to attend the session from 2-7 December 2024. The meeting was officially opened by Santiago Peña Palacios, President of Paraguay, Adriana Ortiz Semidei, Minister of Culture, and Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director General.
