Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet considered the Khmer Muslim community as a key driver for Cambodia to access global Islamic economic opportunities, including Islamic finance and the halal economy. He also highlighted his focus on promoting the manufacturing and export of halal products.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Dec. 7) during the opening of the 20th General Assembly of Regional Islamic Da’wah Council of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP) at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that the Islamic community in Cambodia serves as a vital link to the international Islamic community, fostering trust and encouraging global Islamic businesses to explore economic, trade, and investment opportunities in Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "The Cambodian Muslim community is the key to opening Cambodia's door to global Islamic opportunities, whether in Islamic finance or the halal economy. I am also dedicated to advancing the halal manufacturing and export industry, ensuring that Cambodia can fully capitalise on the vast opportunities of the halal market by adhering to international halal certification standards.”

In this regard, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet called for continued efforts to engage the Cambodian Muslim community as active partners in the Royal Government. He encouraged them to act as goodwill ambassadors, trade and investment partners, and reliable intermediaries for foreign Islamic stakeholders, thereby strengthening Cambodia’s presence and connections within the thriving global Islamic economic community.
