Kandal (FN), Dec. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that he is never tired of reminding citizens about the value of peace and the severe consequences of war, both within the nation and globally. He highlighted that peace is fragile and requires constant effort to ensure its long-term preservation.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at the groundbreaking ceremony for the “Mekong Quay City” development project in Akreiy Ksatr City, Kandal Province.

“Some people ask, ‘Hun Manet, why does the Cambodian People’s Party, always talk about peace every time you take the stage? Don’t you get tired of it?’ My answer is simple: No, I never tire of reminding people about peace, because it is fragile. It’s something we must always remember together,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei stressed the importance of preserving peace for future generations. He noted that in Cambodia’s 500-year history, the current 26 years of peace represent a significant period of stability. In addition, he expressed a desire for peace to last forever, enabling the country to continue developing and its people to enjoy prosperity and security.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet also addressed international leaders, urging them to recognise the value of peace by considering the devastating impact of war. He cited examples in Europe, Africa, and Asia where, just a few years ago, peace prevailed, but conflict has since brought despair, economic collapse, and crisis. By witnessing the devastation caused by war, we can truly appreciate the importance of peace. He reiterated his commitment to continually highlighting the value of peace.
