Kandal (FN), Dec. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the "blooming flowers" Cambodia seeks are those of peace and prosperity, not the "blooming flowers" that lead to war.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at the groundbreaking ceremony for the “Mekong Quay City” development project in Akreiy Ksatr City, Kandal Province.

Samdech Thipadei made this comment after the phrase "blooming flowers" was repeatedly posted on social media by Sam Rainsy. This revolutionary movement, inspired by Sam Rainsy with malicious intentions, has been used in several countries to incite people to rise up and disrupt Cambodia's peace and happiness.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, “This blooming (achievement of peace) is part of a flower strategy. While someone abroad talks about blooming flowers and overthrowing the government, we do not. The flower we seek is one where we plant the seeds of private sector development, allowing them to grow and transform once-remote areas into places that serve the people's needs and livelihoods. This is the flower we want—the flower of peace, the fruit of peace that we can cultivate through harmony and tourism.”

The flower strategy of the Royal Government of Cambodia focuses on enabling the private sector to develop in areas that are difficult to access, transforming them into prosperous regions that serve the people’s needs and livelihoods.

Samdech Thipadei expressed optimism that, in the future, the eastern Mekong River will experience significant development, with high-rise buildings similar to those in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Thipadei added, “I hope that this connection will bring enhanced accessibility to the eastern riverbank, not only for Akreiy Ksatr or this 200-hectare area, but also expand eastward, linking to National Road No. 8, creating a modern industrial area similar to the west. We can call it the new city of the eastern riverbank, and this new city should prioritise infrastructure development, with wider roads.”
