Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 18 – Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen informed Bridgette L. Walker, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the US Embassy in Cambodia, that cybercrime has a complex nature and is spreading across borders, necessitating regional attention and cooperation to combat it effectively.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen received a courtesy call by Chargé d’Affaires a.i., of the US Embassy in Cambodia Bridgette L. Walker on Tuesday (Dec. 17) at the Senate.

Walker expressed her concerns about the rise in online fraud and its negative impact on investment and the economic climate in Cambodia and the region.

In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen acknowledged the growing complexity of cybercrime, noting that its transnational nature requires collaborative regional efforts to address it.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo added that the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, is committed to strengthening mechanisms to prevent and combat cybercrime.
