Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 18 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), instructed party members to focus on political, emotional, and organisational efforts to ensure sustainability and effectiveness in their work.
Samdech Techo spoke on Wednesday (Dec. 18) during a closing conference on 2024 achievements and future directions for CPP Mass Movement Committee, held at the CPP’s headquarter.
He underlined the importance of the mass movement committee and all party organisations accelerating their efforts to guarantee the party's success, particularly by mobilising the strength of all segments of society, including youth, women, workers, employees, and social organizations, to secure victory in the upcoming elections at all stages.
In terms of overall satisfaction, Cambodians expressed an above-average level of satisfaction, with seven key areas receiving greater-than-average approval, including education services, healthcare services, infrastructure, social consciousness, security and law enforcement, economic growth, and reform efforts. At the same time, there are areas that require further attention.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that it is noteworthy that the younger generation aged 18-25 (Generation Z) and the older generation aged 50 and over (Generation X & Baby Boomers) have shown more support for the government’s efforts than other age groups. In contrast, the middle-aged population aged 26-50 (Generation Y), who are active in their work, are more susceptible to pessimism or false information spread by hostile and unfriendly circles. Regarding future expectations, people’s most prominent concerns revolve around their daily lives. This shows that political consciousness is closely tied to people's livelihoods and well-being—material conditions shape consciousness, and consciousness, in turn, influences material conditions.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen advised, “Based on this understanding, the work of building the party, whether at the central or grassroots level, must focus on political engagement, consciousness, and tasks to ensure sustainability and success in carrying out the work effectively.”
Samdech Techo instructed, “The mass movement committee, as well as all party organisations, must accelerate their efforts to ensure the party’s victory. This involves mobilising the strength of all segments of society, including youth, women, workers, employees, and social organizations, to ensure the party’s success at all stages of the election.”
On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also underscored the importance of the mass movement committee at all levels in leading, guiding, directing, and coordinating the party’s mass movement activities. This includes setting guiding principles, managing mass movement work at local levels, and understanding the needs, requests, and sentiments of the people.
The aim is to assess the party’s strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and opportunities and develop an appropriate resolution mechanism to support the successful implementation of the party’s political programs and policies. Additionally, the mass movement committee must focus on monitoring, understanding, and analysing the activities and strategies of hostile groups to ensure timely, concrete, and appropriate responses.
