Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 23 – In the first 11 months of 2024, Cambodia welcomed 5.59 million air passengers, marking an increase of over 22 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.

Sin Chansery Vutha, Secretary of State and Spokesman of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation of Cambodia, reported that from January to November 2024, Cambodia’s three international airports handled more than 52,000 inbound and outbound flights (52,732 two-way flights), reflecting a nearly 14 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

In terms of passenger traffic, over 5.59 million passengers were recorded, representing a growth of more than 22 per cent. Meanwhile, air cargo volumes reached over 70,000 tons, showing an increase of nearly 40 per cent.

Sin Chansereyvutha highlighted that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasts Cambodia's air transport to recover to about 67% of its 2019 levels by 2024, with a full return to pre-pandemic passenger numbers anticipated by 2026.
