Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the reform of the high school diploma examination will shift the mindset of parents and students from relying on external assistance to a focus on self-determination and individual abilities.
The premier spoke on Monday (Dec. 23) during his meeting with Grade A high school students at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
The premier stated that the exam is not just about integrity and honesty—it’s about fostering a sustainable mindset shift. Moving from dependence on others to self-reliance, from parents pressuring teachers to children taking ownership of their education.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that while every parent wishes for their child’s success in exams, the approach to achieving it matters. Relying on others to secure a child’s success is unsustainable, he noted, as life presents countless challenges where parental guidance won’t always be available.
In this regard, Premier Hun Manet encouraged high school graduates to continue studying diligently and persistently to achieve success. He stressed that every individual’s life journey is unique, but no success is possible without effort and the ability to overcome challenges. Therefore, students must strive to enhance their own skills and capabilities.
It is worth noting that this year marks the second occasion where Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Grade A students, reflecting the government’s strong commitment to recognising Cambodia’s outstanding young talents.
