Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister stated that graduating from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status is a decision aimed at striving for self-reliance, speaking on Monday (Dec. 23) during his meeting with Grade A high school students at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Cambodia is not a rich country, nor is it without its challenges, but we must focus on our potential and work towards the progress of our nation. We cannot keep dwelling on the Khmer Rouge era or the 500 years of war that the country has endured and do nothing about it."

Samdech Thipadei underlined that we must focus on developing the country into a middle-income country and aim for graduation from LDC status by 2029.

Cambodia has acknowledged the harsh reality of its past and has been working hard to build a stronger foundation. Although the country may lag behind its neighbours, we must continue striving to catch up, and we are confident that we will achieve this in the future.

It should be noted that Cambodia has endured a series of wars over the past 500 years, following the decline of the Angkor Empire. It was not until the end of 1998 that the country saw peace, political stability was restored, and the foundation for socio-economic development was laid. Today, Cambodia is reaping the fruits of its progress.
