Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that no skill is inherently superior to another; what truly matters is mastering the skill and understanding it clearly, speaking to Grade A high school students at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
The premier shared advice for the next generation: "Success comes only through effort and facing challenges. Problems arise only when we encounter and resolve them."
On choosing a field of study, Samdech Thipadei advised, “Study hard, and you will succeed. This applies to all fields. If you start in one area, like management, and later switch to another, like IT, you won’t be prepared to specialize in either when you graduate. Stick with your studies and focus. After four years, you can’t expect to find a distinction between someone who changed fields halfway and someone who stayed focused.”
Samdech Thipadei continued, “What matters is not the type of skill, but how well you understand and apply it. It’s better to be an expert in IT with clear skills than to have vague knowledge. It’s not the degree that defines you—it’s how you use your knowledge.”
The premier also highlighted that students, through their skills, contribute to the reputation of their school, not the other way around. "When you leave with competence, you make the school proud."
This year marks the second consecutive meeting between Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Grade A students, underscoring his commitment to recognizing Cambodia’s talented youth. In the 2023-2024 academic year, 2,216 Grade A students were honoured, with 57.8% of them being female. To inspire further achievement, the prime minister presented each student with a Galaxy Tab and two million Riels.
