Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 29 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that peace and political stability have been fundamental to Cambodia's success in organising major sports events.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Dec. 29) at the friendly football match celebrating “Peace Day in Cambodia” at Moradok Techo National Stadium.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that such achievements are not coincidental but a result of the sustained peace and stability that the nation has preserved over the past several decades.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, “Cambodia’s success in hosting these sporting events is not accidental but relies on the most critical factors—peace and political stability, which we have achieved and maintained over the years,”

If Cambodia were not at peace, even its membership in the Olympics—granted in 1956—would have continued to face interruptions. Cambodia's Olympic participation was suspended between 1970 and 1994 due to war.

It should be noted that Cambodia has successfully hosted numerous high-profile events in recent years, including the SEA Games, the ASEAN Summit, and other major gatherings. These accomplishments underscore the significance of peace, political stability, and development in enabling such progress.
