Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 7 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), stated that the people's ownership of the nation's destiny is the decisive factor in realizing Cambodia’s vision of becoming a high-income country by 2050.

Samdech Techo spoke on Tuesday (Jan. 7) at the 46th Anniversary of January 7 Victory Day at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that, building on the foundation of the 7 January victory, Cambodia, which had been set back on its path of development for decades, is now regaining strength and expanding its progress. The country is positioning itself to move forward in alignment with the principles of social development, bringing extraordinary benefits to its people by enabling them to live in peace, freedom, dignity, and with hope for the future.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo underlined that achieving the vision of a prosperous and progressive Cambodia, with robust economic growth and a civilised society, requires ongoing effort. He noted that the journey ahead is long and will demand unwavering commitment and confidence to turn this aspiration into reality.

Samdech Techo underscored, "We must continue on our long journey, requiring redoubled efforts and confidence, so that our dream of making Cambodia a developed country by 2050 can come true. [...] At this point, I would like to stress that the people's ownership of the nation's destiny is the decisive factor in our national victory."

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his deep gratitude to Viet Nam and its leadership for their assistance in building the Cambodian army and sending volunteer troops to help liberate Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime.

At the same time, Samdech Techo also thanked the international community for their efforts to bring peace to Cambodia through the United Nations framework and the support of Cambodia’s friendly nations. He also acknowledged their ongoing commitment to strengthening and expanding fruitful relations and cooperation for the advancement of peace, democracy, and development in Cambodia.
