Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 7 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), announced that the CPP symbolises Cambodia’s transformation from a war-torn nation to one of full peace and development.

Samdech Techo spoke on Tuesday (Jan. 7) at the 46th Anniversary of January 7 Victory Day at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre, Phnom Penh.

“I would like to emphasise that there is no doubt that the CPP is a symbol of transformation and a driving force for turning a difficult situation into a more comfortable one. Please trust in our transformation,” Samdech Techo underscored.

The past 26 years of peace have allowed Cambodia to consolidate its national strength, resources, and capabilities to promote rapid development in all sectors, resulting in historical changes that were once unimaginable.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that Cambodia, previously torn by chronic war, plagued by killing fields, insecurity, and littered with mines and unexploded ordnance, has transformed into a sovereign and independent state with complete peace, strong political stability, and adherence to the rule of law under the principles of multi-party liberal democracy. Cambodia, which started from scratch, has achieved remarkable progress in restoring, building, and developing its economy and society, leading to a significant reduction in poverty to below 10% before the COVID19 crisis.

Cambodia has evolved from a nation with a severe deficit in state revenue and dependence on development partners for financing to one that can responsibly manage its national budget, maintain reserves to ensure economic stability, and support the well-being of its people while withstanding crises and disasters, Samdech Techo explained.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo emphasised that Cambodia, once unjustly besieged, sanctioned, and isolated, has successfully integrated into the region and the world. It has become a nation capable of sending its forces to participate in peacekeeping missions in multiple countries.
