Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 14 – China emerged as Cambodia's top investor in 2024, contributing USD 3.45 billion, according to a report by the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on 13 January 2025.

The report highlighted that Chinese investments accounted for approximately 50 per cent of Cambodia’s total investment capital, which reached USD 6.9 billion in 2024. Cambodia itself ranked second with USD 2.3 billion (34 per cent), followed by Viet Nam at third with USD 0.55 billion (8 per cent). Singapore contributed 3.83 per cent, while the Cayman Islands and Malaysia accounted for 0.71 per cent and 0.65 per cent, respectively.

In 2024, Cambodia approved 414 investment projects with a total investment capital of USD 6.9 billion, an increase of 146 projects compared to 2023. These included 387 new investment projects and 27 production expansion projects, resulting in a USD 2 billion (40 per cent) increase in investment capital compared to the previous year. The projects are expected to create nearly 320,000 jobs.
