Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 14 – The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) approved 414 projects in 2024 worth USD 6.9 billion, according to a press release seen by Fresh News on Tuesday (Jan. 14).
The CDC noted that “in 2024, the CDC broke an annual record by approving a total of 414 investment projects, including 387 new investment projects and 27 production expansion projects, with a total investment capital of approximately USD 6.9 billion and the potential to create nearly 320,000 jobs.”
Of the 414 investment projects, 264 were located outside the Special Economic Zones, while 150 were located within the Special Economic Zones.
Overall, the approval of investment projects in 2024 increased by 146 compared to 2023, with investment capital rising by nearly USD 2 billion, representing an increase of almost 40 per cent. Notably, production expansion projects grew from 21 in 2023 to 27 in 2024.
In 2024, the industrial sector continued to dominate, attracting 394 projects—approximately 95 per cent of the total. Investment capital in this sector reached around USD 4.8 billion, accounting for 69 per cent of the total investment capital and marking a 110 per cent increase from 2023.
The agriculture and agro-industry sectors attracted eight projects with a combined investment capital exceeding USD 121 million, equivalent to 2 per cent of the total. The tourism sector saw four projects with an investment capital of around USD 738 million, representing 11 per cent. Meanwhile, the infrastructure and other sectors drew eight projects with a total investment of approximately USD 1.3 billion, making up about 18 per cent of the total investment capital.
