Pursat (FN), Jan. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on all banks and private financial institutions to provide loans to the agricultural sector at reasonable interest rates to enable mills to collect rice from farmers.

The premier spoke on Monday (Jan. 20) at the inauguration of the newly established village “Bun Rany Sen Chey Damnak Troyeung” in Pro’ngel commune, Phnom Kravanh district, Pursat province.

Samdech Thipadei stated, “At this stage, I have advised Madam National Bank to engage with private banks on providing loans to support the agricultural sector and assist our farmers.” He urged private banks to collaborate with the state in supporting farmers and strengthening the economy during challenging times.

It should also be noted that to support the rice sector and stabilize market prices, the Royal Government has allocated USD 30 million from January to March as working capital for rice mills to purchase rice from farmers.
