Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 24 – Cambodian mango and cashew processing companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand exports to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei, aligning with the government’s goal of boosting processed cashew exports by 25% by 2027 and 50% by 2032.
The MoU signing, held at the Ministry of Commerce, involved Ample Agro Product Co., Ltd., Kirirom Food Production Co., Ltd., and Trackintech Solutions Sdn Bhd. Officials, including Secretary of State Tor Pilar and Malaysian Ambassador Shaharuddin Onn, attended the event.
Undersecretary of State Someth Somnea highlighted the agreements’ role in strengthening trade ties with Malaysia and attracting foreign investment. Cashews and mangoes are among Cambodia’s 12 priority crops, with the government actively promoting agro-processing and exports. In 2023, Cambodia exported 425,977 tonnes of cashews and 161,925 tonnes of mangoes to key markets like Vietnam, China, and Thailand.
Cambodia was the world’s second-largest cashew exporter in 2024, with over 820,000 tonnes exported, mainly to Vietnam. The Cashew Federation, established in 2022, is working to enhance processing, improve export standards, and expand markets.
President of the Cambodia Cashew Federation, An Dara, emphasized the collaboration’s potential to boost local processing and export competitiveness. The partnership aims to strengthen Cambodia’s position in ASEAN and global markets, paving the way for long-term economic growth.
The Royal Government of Cambodia remains committed to becoming the world’s leading cashew exporter, striving for the title of "Cashew King" in the near future.
