Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 5 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet visited the NCX motorcycle factory on Wednesday (Feb. 5) in Sangkat Chom Chao, Khan Por Sen Chey, Phnom Penh.

NCX is a leading company in Cambodia’s motorcycle manufacturing and distribution industry, recognised as one of the largest and most influential in the country. Since 1992, NCX has been importing fully assembled Honda motorcycles (CBU) for the Cambodian market. With increasing customer demand and strong market support, the company established its first production line in Phnom Penh in 1999.

This initial production line marked NCX’s transition from importing motorcycles to assembling them in incompletely knocked down (IKD) form. In 2004, the company expanded its operations by increasing production capacity to include both IKD and incompletely knocked down 1 (IKD1) assembly.

Today, NCX not only assembles motorcycles but has also begun producing key motorcycle parts using an advanced system (IKD1.5).

The company employs Cambodian workers across all production lines, adhering strictly to Honda's standards. It also provides skill-building programs to equip workers with expertise aligned with technological advancements and the digital era.

In addition to assembling motorcycles for the local market, NCX exports some parts to foreign markets, including Thailand.

The company ensures compliance with labor laws, maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment that prioritises employee well-being. Salaries are set in accordance with economic conditions and living standards. Furthermore, the factory operates a wastewater treatment facility to purify water before discharging it into the public sewer system, supporting the government’s environmental protection policies.

NCX started with an assembly capacity of 50 motorcycles per shift in 1999, which grew to approximately 800 per shift by 2015.

According to a senior company representative, NCX currently assembles five motorcycle models including Click, Scoopy, Dream, Wave, and Beat. Before the COVID19 pandemic, the company assembled and distributed approximately 400,000 motorcycles annually. In 2024, production reached about 250,000 units, marking a 17 to 20 per cent increase compared to 2023.

With its assembly and parts production operations, NCX employs approximately 1,221 workers, nearly all of whom are Cambodian, with only seven foreign employees. Workers receive a minimum monthly wage of nearly USD 300.
