Manila (FN), Feb. 10 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted six main investment opportunities in Cambodia that will benefit foreign investors investing in the country.
Samdech Thipadei spoke on Monday (Feb. 10) at Cambodia-Philippines Business Forum in Manila, the Philippines.
The premier stated that Cambodia has become a leading destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), having been included in the FDI Intelligence Standouts 2024 watchlist, ranking among the world’s top 50 FDI destinations. In 2024, Cambodia received more than 400 investment projects with a total investment volume nearing USD 7 billion, an increase of over 40 per cent compared to 2023.
In line with this growth in investment, the premier highlighted the potential and benefits offered to investors, as follows:
1. Cambodia has a favorable environment and incentives through regulatory reforms and adjustments, providing extensive tax incentives to investors.
2. Strong government-private sector relations, cooperation between the Royal Government and investors is a key priority, ensuring that private sector concerns are regularly raised and addressed.
3. Strategic location and infrastructure development. Cambodia situated in the heart of ASEAN, Cambodia offers excellent market connectivity, while the Royal Government has developed infrastructure and logistics to enhance accessibility.
4. Access to a broad regional and global market through agreements such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), China-Cambodia Free Trade. Agreement (CCFTA), Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA), and the Cambodia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
5. Digital economy and innovation, with the Royal Government recognises the transformative power of digitalisation and prioritises the development of a strong digital ecosystem. In this regard, Samdech Thipadei encouraged Philippine investors to partner with Cambodia in building the country’s digital future.
6. Sustainable energy and green growth, as Cambodia is committed to advancing sustainable energy initiatives and promoting green economic growth.
