Kandal (FN), Feb. 11 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his appreciation for the Royal Government of Cambodia, currently led by Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, and his capable colleagues.
Samdech Techo spoke on Tuesday (Feb. 11) during the inauguration of various achievements on the premises of Wat Preah Int Samki Thorma in Kandal province.
Samdech Techo highlighted the government's accomplishments over the past 17 months. He noted that under the leadership of his successors, Cambodia has maintained full peace, political and social stability, and sustained economic growth.
“The successors are moving forward at speed. On one hand, they are preserving peace, independence, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity—particularly political stability and macroeconomic stability. On the other hand, they are ensuring continued development. Economic growth in the past year was over 5.6 per cent, and in 2024, it reached 6 per cent, with further growth expected this year. Over the last 17 months, there has been no fear of losing peace,” Samdech Techo underscored.
Samdech Techo acknowledged that Cambodia has faced economic challenges due to the aftermath of COVID19, the Russia-Ukraine war, and global sanctions affecting trade. Despite these difficulties, Cambodia’s total trade volume in 2024 exceeded USD 55 billion, an increase of 16.9 per cent compared to 2023.
Official data for 2024 shows that Cambodia exported nearly USD 26.19 billion worth of essential goods, marking a 15.7 per cent increase, while imports totalled USD 28.54 billion, up 18 per cent from the previous year.
At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reiterated his gratitude to all compatriots who supported his decision to transfer the premiership. He also noted that this transition was a significant event closely observed by the international community, including Japan.
