Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 14 – On 14 February 2025, the Singapore Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced the winner of the Singapore-Cambodia 60th anniversary (SG-CAM60) Logo Design Competition, Ly Meylik, a talented 20-year-old Khmer art student from Phare Ponleu Selpak’s Visual and Applied Arts School. Her winning design will serve as the official emblem of SG-CAM60, marking 60 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Cambodia.

Phare Ponleu Selpak, meaning “The Brightness of the Arts,” is a Cambodian non-profit organization that empowers young Cambodians through arts education and professional development. Founded in 1994, it provides free artistic training and social support to underprivileged children and youth, fostering Cambodia’s next generation of creatives.

Meylik’s design was selected from nearly 20 submissions. She won a two-night stay at Citadines Flatiron Phnom Penh, including breakfast for two, and a set lunch for two at Khéma Flatiron, generously sponsored by The Ascott Limited. Expressing her excitement, Meylik shared, “I am truly honoured to receive this award. I am deeply grateful to my teachers for their encouragement and support throughout my journey”.

Buth Sonrin, Lead Graphic Design Teacher at the Visual and Applied Arts School, praised Meylik’s achievement, stating, “Her design is a powerful symbol of Cambodia-Singapore cooperation over the past six decades. It is incredibly inspiring to see our students showcase their talent on an international platform.” He also expressed his gratitude for the collaboration, adding, “We deeply appreciate the Singapore Embassy’s efforts in engaging young Cambodian artists in this meaningful milestone. This competition has provided an invaluable learning experience for our students and will encourage them to aim even higher in their creative pursuits.”

Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng commanded the participants and highlighted the significance of the winning design, “This competition has brought forth outstanding creativity, and I thank all participants for their impressive submissions. Meylik’s logo beautifully encapsulates the deep friendship, shared milestones, and aspirations of our two nations.” She added, “It is particularly meaningful that the winning entry comes from Phare Ponleu Selpak, anorganisation that has been instrumental in nurturing Cambodia’s artistic community and sharing its rich cultural heritage with the world.” Looking ahead, Ambassador Teo encouraged wider participation in the upcoming festivities, stating, “With the launch of this logo, we invite Singaporeans and all friends of Singapore to join us in celebrating this milestone through the many SG-CAM60 events lined up this year.”
