Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet allocated USD 60 million to expand investment in clean water infrastructure and networks to better serve people in five provinces over the next three years.

The premier underlined that providing clean water to the population has been a key priority for the Royal Government across multiple mandates. As a result, extensive clean water networks have been developed across various provinces and cities.

However, with population growth, the demand for clean water continues to rise, particularly in rural areas and newly developed zones around cities and large towns. To meet this increasing demand, the Royal Government has continued investing in expanding clean water production capacity.

Recently, at the request of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), Samdech Thipadei approved a USD 60 million budget for expanding clean water infrastructure in the following five provinces:

1. Kampot Water Utility – Kampot Province

2. Svay Rieng Water Utility – Svay Rieng Province

3. Stung Sen Water Utility – Kampong Thom Province

4. Mondulkiri Water Utility – Mondulkiri Province

5. Pursat Water Utility – Pursat Province

Prime Minister Hun Manet also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to gradually expanding clean water coverage across the entire country in the future.
