Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that this year’s fish harvest has increased significantly, ensuring an ample supply of fish at affordable prices for the public.
Samdech Thipadei added that one of the key factors behind this increase is the concerted effort of relevant institutions, sub-national administrations, local authorities, and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in jointly combating fisheries crimes, particularly large-scale illegal fishing activities.
This achievement has been highly praised by local fishermen, as large-scale fishing crimes in the past had adversely affected fish stocks, particularly for small-scale fishermen.
The premier expressed his gratitude to all experts at the national and sub-national levels, local authorities, and all branches of the armed forces for their collective efforts in supporting the livelihoods of fishermen and enhancing the management of Cambodia’s fishery resources.
