Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 25 – Yin Li, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, reiterated that Samdech Techo Hun Sen remains a valued friend of China and underlined China’s continued commitment to strengthening Cambodia-China relations.

Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen received a courtesy call by Yin Li on 24 February 2025 at the Senate.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed Yin Li and his delegation, expressing confidence that this visit would further strengthen and expand the friendship, cooperation, and comprehensive strategic partnership between Cambodia and China. He also underlined the importance of building a high-quality and high-standard Cambodia-China community of common interests in the new era.

Yin Li thanked Samdech Techo for the warm reception and the opportunity to meet during his first visit to Cambodia. He conveyed the greetings of Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, and reaffirmed China’s strong ties with Cambodia.

Yin Li described Samdech Techo as a long-time friend of China’s leadership and a respected veteran politician who has played a key role in strengthening Cambodia-China relations.

During the meeting, Yin Li outlined the objectives of his visit, which included, implementing the consensus of both countries' leaders, strengthening mutual trust, deepening practical cooperation at the sub-national level and advancing the Cambodia-China community of shared future in the new era.

He further praised Samdech Techo Hun Sen for his leadership in maintaining peace, political stability, and socio-economic development, contributing to the improved livelihood of the Cambodian people.

Yin Li reaffirmed that despite global uncertainties, China remains committed to supporting the long-term leadership of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and the successive governments led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen. He underlined China’s support for Cambodia’s sovereign right to determine its own development path and strongly opposed any external interference in Cambodia’s internal affairs.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Yin Li for conveying President Xi Jinping’s greetings and, in turn, expressed his heartfelt condolences to Xi Jinping.

Samdech Techo reaffirmed that China remains Cambodia’s closest friend, most trusted partner, and strongest supporter. Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to the One China policy and expressed gratitude to China for its longstanding support in allowing Cambodia to pursue a development path suited to its unique context and characteristics. He acknowledged China’s significant development assistance, which has not only fueled Cambodia’s national progress but also reinforced its independence and sovereignty.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed confidence that China will continue to play a crucial role in training human resources for Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) officials, strengthening party-building efforts, and facilitating important study exchanges. He specifically highlighted China’s support for the training of young Cambodian politicians through the Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship program, which aims to promote greater youth exchanges between the two nations.
