Siem Reap (FN), Feb. 25 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that safeguarding the nation begins with personal strength and responsibility. He urged all Cambodian citizens to take ownership, protect what they have, and recognize that no one loves Cambodia more than its own people. He stated that setting goals and striving for self-improvement is the true path to strengthening the nation.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Feb. 25) at the graduation ceremony of students of the University of South-East Asia in Siem Reap province.
Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the need for greater promotion of Cambodia at all levels to enhance its global recognition, stating that hearing about a country is not the same as seeing it. He highlighted the prevalence of negative news over positive stories, particularly in the media and online platforms, noting that good news often goes unnoticed while bad news spreads globally.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei stated, "The strength of our Khmer people lies in our civilization, ethics, and culture. These are the values we must nurture and strengthen. No one loves Cambodia more than its own people. If we fear losing our nation, let's not blame each other—let's unite to strengthen ourselves, our communities, and our provinces. We must take ownership, protect what we have, and work together to unlock Cambodia's potential. Education is key; students must aim to grow, not just earn degrees. Setting goals and focusing on self-improvement is the true path to strengthening our nation."
