Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 26 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Sri Lankan Ambassador to Cambodia with Residence in Bangkok, Edirisinghe Arachchilage Sriyani Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, on Wednesday (Feb. 26) at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe expressed her pleasure at being appointed as the new ambassador to Cambodia and conveyed greetings from the president and the prime minister of Sri Lanka to Samdech Thipadei. She also expressed her satisfaction with the long-standing Sri Lanka-Cambodia relations and reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening the bilateral ties, particularly in promoting cooperation in key areas including trade, investment, and tourism.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei welcomed and congratulated the ambassador on her appointment. He expressed confidence that, under the ambassador’s diplomatic tenure, relations and cooperation between the two countries would be further enhanced.
Samdech Thipadei noted that Cambodia and Sri Lanka have a long history of relations, share similar religious beliefs, and possess significant potential for cooperation in areas including education and religious tourism. He encouraged the ambassador to work closely with the ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia and to promote stronger linkages with the private sectors of both countries.
