Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 27 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet directed all provincial and capital authorities to enhance local tourism destinations, ensuring prosperity, quality, hygiene, and excellent services for both national and international visitors.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Feb. 27) at the closing of the 2024 annual meeting of the Ministry of Tourism at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that issues related to quality, hygiene, and services should be addressed immediately rather than waiting for tourists to expose them online. He warned against allowing such problems to persist, especially in the AI era, where negative experiences quickly gain traction on social media.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei announced plans to enhance Kampong Cham’s nighttime scenery to attract more tourists.
The premier also instructed Phoeurng Sackona to oversee the beautification of temple areas in Siem Reap, prioritizing tourist safety. Additionally, he called for a special spectacle at the Bayon Temple’s elephant wrestling ground to enrich visitors' experience before they leave the heritage site.
Furthermore, the prime minister directed the Siem Reap Provincial Government to establish a dedicated space for traditional Khmer music orchestras, separate from Pub Street, ensuring both can thrive without disruption.
