Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 27 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged youth, celebrities, content creators, media outlets, and social media influencers to continue promoting the achievements of the Royal Government, Cambodian culture, major events, and tourism destinations to help attract more visitors to the country.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Feb. 27) at the closing of the 2024 annual meeting of the Ministry of Tourism at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei noted that many young people, celebrities, and content creators have already played a role in promoting Cambodian culture on social media. For example, they have shared videos of people wearing traditional and martial arts costumes while exploring temple sites on platforms like TikTok. These efforts contribute to the broader cultural promotion of Cambodia. He also highlighted the upcoming Angkor Sankranta event in Siem Reap and other year-end celebrations, urging young people, actors, and content creators to help spread awareness.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei advised against excessive publicity of negative issues on social media, even if such content garners many likes and shares.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei instructed relevant ministries and institutions to monitor social media discussions regarding the history, construction, and narratives surrounding temples to prevent misinterpretations that may cause confusion.
