Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 28 – Korea Water Corporation (K-water) is exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s water resources management sector.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Yun Seogdae, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) and also Chairman of the Asia Water Council (AWC), on Friday (Feb. 28) at the Peace Palace.
During a meeting, Yun Seogdae informed Prime Minister Hun Manet about the successful past cooperation between K-water and relevant ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia. He also outlined the company’s objectives in seeking investment opportunities in Cambodia’s water resources management sector.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet commended the past collaboration between K-water and Cambodian ministries, particularly in water resource management. He encouraged the company to continue working with relevant ministries and institutions to study Cambodia’s water resources management in alignment with the Royal Government’s policies. The study should include a comprehensive assessment of the project’s strengths and its socio-economic and environmental impacts.
Samdech Thipadei underlined the Royal Government’s commitment to an efficient water resources management system, ensuring sufficient water supply during both the rainy and dry seasons for the benefit of the people. He also highlighted the importance of developing ecological systems that support agriculture and agro-industry, as well as managing flood risks in the rainy season and droughts in the dry season.
On the occasion, the premier encouraged K-water to strengthen ties with relevant ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia and continue working closely on water resource management initiatives.
