Banteay Meanchey (FN), Mar. 1 – Cambodian authorities on Saturday (Mar. 1) expelled 119 Thai nationals, including 58 women, through the Poipet International Border Gate after their arrests for illegally entering and residing in the country.
The expulsions followed the directive of Interior Minister Sar Sokha, and were carried out under the supervision of Lieutenant General Sok Veasna, Director General of Immigration.
The individuals were apprehended during law enforcement operations conducted on 22 and 23 February 2025, at 2 locations in Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province.
Authorities determined that the group had entered Cambodia, either legally and illegally, in pursuit of high-paying employment opportunities linked to illicit online operations.
In coordination with foreign authorities, Cambodian officials have enforced legal procedures to expel the individuals and prevent further illicit operations.
