Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that, according to a report from Cambodian Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction Say Samal, the growth rate of home purchases has increased, with the current market expansion being both sustainable and well-founded.
The premier spoke on Tuesday (Mar. 4) during Cambodia Outlook Conference 2025, held at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.
“Minister Say Samal sent me a message informing me that house sales and real estate activity are on the rise again, although not at pre-COVID19 levels. I believe this is accurate. If the market were growing at the same rate as before, it would resemble a period when large numbers of people were purchasing homes in rapid succession. However, this current growth is genuine and sustainable,” the premier underscored.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei further noted that while rapid growth without solid foundations may seem beneficial in the short term, it is not sustainable in the long run. However, the current growth, though moderate, is based on a strong foundation and represents real economic progress.
Premier Hun Manet added that maintaining and strengthening the fundamental structure of the economy requires ongoing adjustments to ensure long-term sustainable growth. He also encouraged meaningful discussions on the matter.
