Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 7 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Khov Chhay, President of the Khmer Boxing Federation, and his delegations on 6 March 2025 at the Peace Palace.

On this occasion, Khov Chhay briefed Samdech Thipadei on the activities and progress of the Khmer Boxing Federation. The Federation currently comprises 23 member communities within ministries, capitals, and provinces, along with 144 affiliated clubs. As of 2024, it has a total of 1,236 athletes (1,191 males and 45 females), 144 coaches, 148 assistant coaches, 180 technical officials, referees, and judges (including 12 females), and seven secretariat officials.

He added that the Federation has prioritised organising between 18 and 22 sporting events per week, establishing permanent training arenas in the Battambang and Siem Reap regions, and conducting mobile training programmes across the capital, provinces, cities, and districts each week. Additionally, it has worked to promote Khmer boxing internationally while also contributing to social initiatives such as blood donations to the National Blood Centre.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei praised and highly valued the Federation’s efforts in developing and promoting Khmer boxing, recognising its remarkable achievements. He noted that Khmer boxing has gained significant public support, elevating its prominence and reputation on the international stage.

Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged the Federation to continue advancing Khmer martial arts, further expanding and promoting the sport effectively. The premier urged continued collaboration with ministries, institutions, and local authorities, particularly in organising key annual events. Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of strengthening international cooperation to expand training opportunities and enhance the global recognition of Khmer martial arts.
