Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that only knowledge can cultivate a progressive mindset and drive national advancement, addressing over 4,500 Vanda Institute graduates on Tuesday morning (Mar. 11).
The premier encouraged all citizens to develop a reading habit and called on the governors of the capital and provinces to establish reading spaces for students.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that becoming a true intellectual requires continuous self-learning, extensive reading, and regular review of acquired knowledge. He noted that earning a diploma alone is not sufficient—individuals must continue to expand their knowledge, conduct research, and refine their skills to keep pace with societal and scientific advancements.
Samdech Thipadei also noted that today, students have access to a wider range of books and better-equipped libraries from the primary level onward.
At the same time, the premier also urged capital and provincial governors to establish more public libraries, particularly in town centres and parks, to encourage reading among citizens.
Samdech Thipadei expressed appreciation for parents and guardians who encourage their children to read, noting that increased reading habits can help reduce excessive phone usage. He further urged parents to instil a love for reading in their children from a young age.
