Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed that citizens go the poll and elect their leaders through democratic elections every five years, countering extremist calls for uprising.
The premier addressed over 4,500 Vanda Institute graduates on Tuesday morning (Mar. 11) at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Some individuals, particularly those abroad, repeatedly call for uprisings over minor issues. But the people do rise—every five years at the ballot box. In the last election, 80% of citizens voted, granting their chosen leaders the mandate to govern. In any democracy, once an election is decided, governments are not overthrown after just one year."
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that no government is without challenges, and true leadership lies in addressing and overcoming them.
