Tokyo (FN), Mar. 11 – On 4 March 2025, during the second day of his working trip to Tokyo, Japan, Vann Saray, Deputy General Director of Fresh News, was scheduled to visit the Japan Investor Support Center (IBSC) in central Tokyo.

The IBSC, managed by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), was established in 1958 with the primary mission of facilitating foreign investment in Japan. The center provides support and advisory services for foreign companies looking to invest in Japan, as well as newly established businesses. It assists in resolving investment-related issues and helps match companies with potential business partners.

The center offers temporary office space for foreign companies that have recently entered the Japanese market but have yet to secure permanent office space. These offices come equipped with essential facilities and internet services. The service is free for the first 50 days, after which a fee is required for use between 50 and 100 days—at a cost lower than typical market rental rates. However, the maximum usage period is limited to 100 days.

Beyond office space, the center also provides meeting rooms where companies can hold discussions with potential business partners.

The Japanese government prioritises easing business operations and reducing bureaucratic complexities for investors. As part of this effort, the IBSC building houses various offices that provide investment-related services, ensuring that investors have convenient access to the support they need.

According to an IBSC official, a presentation on the center’s role was previously given to officials from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). During the presentation, Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the CDC, expressed interest in establishing a similar investor support center in Cambodia.

IBSC officials encouraged the Cambodian government to establish such a center to assist investors in overcoming challenges and to enhance the country’s investment climate. They also recommended that if Cambodia were to create such a center, it should serve as a single gateway for all investment-related services to streamline the process for investors.
