Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 12 – Tull Traisorat, Thai Ambassador to Cambodia expressed his strong commitment to further expanding Cambodia-Thailand relations, particularly by continuing efforts to mobilise more Thai investors to invest in Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Cambodian Senate President, received a courtesy call by Tull Traisorat, Thai Ambassador to Cambodia, on Tuesday (Mar. 11) at the Senate.

Tull Traisorat conveyed his gratitude to Samdech Techo for receiving him as the Acting Head of State. On this occasion, he also extended greetings from the king of Thailand to Samdech Techo.

The ambassador pledged to fulfil his diplomatic mission in Cambodia by focusing on strengthening and expanding bilateral relations, particularly by encouraging more Thai delegations and investors to visit Cambodia.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed Tull Traisorat’s diplomatic mission in Cambodia. He expressed hope that through the ambassador’s efforts, Cambodia-Thailand relations would continue to strengthen.

Currently, the two nations share a strategic partnership, and Samdech Techo underlined the importance of further enhancing cooperation in all sectors.

Marking the 75th anniversary of Cambodia-Thailand relations in 2025, Samdech Techo highlighted the importance of organising various activities to commemorate this milestone. He also recalled the recent friendly football match held on 8 March, which symbolised the spirit of solidarity and further strengthened ties between the two nations across multiple sectors.

At the same time, Samdech Techo also discussed trade volume, expressing satisfaction with the growth in trade between Cambodia and Thailand. In 2024, trade between the two countries increased to USD 10 billion, compared to USD 8 billion in 2023. This growth reflects the strengthening of trade and investment relations, as well as the continued progress in political relations between the two nations, facilitated by ongoing leadership exchanges.

In the past, the Cambodian prime minister visited Thailand, and in the near future, the Thai prime minister is expected to visit Cambodia to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

At the same time, Samdech Techo expressed his appreciation for the rise in tourism between Cambodia and Thailand. The number of Thai tourists visiting Cambodia reached 2 million in 2024, making Thailand the top source of foreign visitors, while approximately 550,000 Cambodian tourists travelled to Thailand in the same year. These figures highlight the strong and growing ties between the two nations.

On this occasion, Samdech Techo also extended his respects to the king of Thailand through the Thai ambassador. He also wished Tull Traisorat success in his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.
