Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 12 – Cambodian Ministry of Tourism issued a notice regarding the Angkor Equinox event, a phenomenon in which the sun rises directly over the central peak of Angkor Wat.
This breathtaking spectacle is expected to occur in the early mornings of 21-23 March 2025. The ministry extends an invitation to both national and international tourists to witness this extraordinary event.
“The alignment of the sun over Angkor Wat’s central peak reflects the exceptional skills of Cambodia’s ancestors in designing the temple. Their expertise encompassed urban planning, architectural precision, construction techniques, land preparation, mathematical calculations, astronomical knowledge, and spiritual beliefs, all contributing to the creation of this remarkable celestial event,” according to the announcement seen by Fresh News on Wednesday (Mar. 12).
It is worth noting that the Angkor Equinox occurs twice a year. The first instance, known as the Vernal Equinox, is expected to take place between 21-23 March from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., while the second, the Autumnal Equinox, is anticipated in September.
The Angkor Equinox is a major attraction, drawing visitors from around the world to gather at the western entrance of Angkor Wat to witness and capture this awe-inspiring moment. On this occasion, the Ministry of Tourism warmly invites the public, along with national and international visitors, to attend and support Cambodia’s tourism sector. This aligns with the promotional slogans: “Together for Tourism, Tourism for All”, “Tourism Grows in Peace”, and “Everyone is a Cambodian Tourism Promoter”.
