Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 14 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the showering ceremony of Samdech Buddhist Monks today serves as yet another testament to the continued flourishing of Buddhism in Cambodia, where the people live in happiness and peace under the blessings of stability.

The premier spoke on Friday (Mar. 14) at the showering ceremony of Samdech Buddhist Monks at Wat Botum Vathey.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that Buddhism is an invaluable heritage passed down from Khmer ancestors. He noted that the teachings of Buddha instil love, wisdom, and inner peace, which have deeply influenced the attitudes, emotions, and behaviours of the Khmer people—reflected in their kindness, honesty, and resilience.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Buddhism is the state religion, and freedom of belief and the practice of other religions are guaranteed, provided they do not interfere with or affect other faiths. In fact, Cambodia maintains religious harmony and upholds the value of solidarity among different ethnic and religious communities without embracing extremist tendencies."

The premier continued that under the protection of peace, Cambodia has the opportunity, capacity, and ability to accelerate development in all sectors. This stability also enables Buddhists to make offerings freely and creates opportunities for new achievements in both the Buddhist and national domains.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated, “In this regard, I express my hope that Your Majesty, the supreme patron of Buddhism in Cambodia, will continue to be a guiding light, ensuring its growth and prosperity for generations to come.”
