Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 14 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the Royal Government of Cambodia continues to emphasise peace and security, even in sleep and dreams.
The premier spoke on Friday (Mar. 14) during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Cambodian Oknha Association annual meeting at Premier Centre Sen Sok in Phnom Penh.
“We must endure and safeguard it [peace] so that it remains,” the premier underscored.
Samdech Thipadei recalled that, historically, Cambodia has never experienced true national unity for the past 500 years. Since before the fall of Angkor, the country has been embroiled in internal conflicts and battles with neighbouring states. In this regard, former Prime Minister Hun Sen once stated that it would take thousands of years for Cambodia to achieve lasting peace.
On the occasion, the premier also called on Lok Neak Oknha, Neak Oknha, and Oknha to work together in safeguarding peace, stability, and national unity. He affirmed that the Royal Government remains steadfast in protecting and preserving the nation’s territorial integrity.
It is worth noting that Cambodia has enjoyed complete peace for the past 27 years. However, reflecting on history, the country had never previously experienced a period of peace with a unified king, military, and government as it does today.
