Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 14 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet clarified that joining the Cambodian Oknha Association is not an act of oppression but a collective effort to uphold the order and dignity of the Oknha title.

The premier spoke on Friday (Mar. 14) during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Cambodian Oknha Association annual meeting at Premier Centre Sen Sok in Phnom Penh.

“Joining the association is voluntary, as those who meet the necessary qualifications can apply and undergo an evaluation process [...] All these activities are not intended for oppressive control but rather to uphold solidarity among the nation, the private sector, and the state,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei expressed gratitude to the Oknha for contributing to the border infrastructure fund and to the Cambodian Oknha Association for providing valuable input to the Royal Government on laws, policies, and strategic frameworks, including the legal standards related to the Oknha title.

At the same time, Premier Hun Manet highly commended the association's efforts in fostering relationships with international institutions to strengthen and expand trade and investment partnerships.
