Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 14 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen firmly declared that Cambodia will not extradite its citizens to other countries under any circumstances, speaking on Friday (Mar. 14) during a solidarity dinner with the Cambodian Oknha Association at Premier Centre Sen Sok in Phnom Penh.

“I do not interfere in the internal affairs of the Philippines. However, for Cambodia, I categorically state that we will not extradite our citizens to other countries. This is a clear principle, and our constitution explicitly prohibits the revocation of citizenship and the extradition of Cambodian nationals abroad. The situation in the Philippines is a separate matter, and I will not comment on it,” Samdech Techo explained.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also emphasised that he should not be compared to former Philippines leader Rodrigo Duterte. He highlighted Cambodia’s strategy of progressing step by step, advancing steadily without retreating, and securing gains without allowing setbacks.

On March 11, 2025, former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested by the Philippine National Police and Interpol on the basis of an International Criminal Court warrant charging him with crimes against humanity in connection with the Philippine drug war.
